Festival of Houses & Gardens

One thing that Charleston is most famous for is the city’s rich history and old Southern charm. Located in the midst of the Historic District is a series of events and award winning tours that run from the end of March until late April. The tour showcases the distinctive history, architecture, games and culture of Charleston’s past and present.

Cooper River Bridge Run

The Cooper River Bridge Run is held typically either in late March or early April of the year. The participation rate continues to climb, but in the past, has been somewhere around forty thousand runners. The event also has a 10k run/walk and the course crosses over the Cooper River via the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. The starting gate is in Mount Pleasant and runners make their way all the way to downtown Charleston, taking in all the best sites and sounds of the city in transit.

Summerville Flowertown Festival

The Summerville Flowertown Festival is a three-day event held in the spring and it is run through the Summerville Family YMCA. Event goers get to peruse through the flowers and experience the old Southern hospitality as they check out crafts from local artists around the Southeast.

Taste of Charleston

In October, downtown Charleston, hosts a three-day event that showcases the very best of Lowcountry chefs and restaurants. The event is hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association. Come by and sample some of the very best cuisine cooked up fresh by world-renowned chefs looking to earn their place among the winners of the Iron Chef Competition and Art Walk. It is definitely a must for Southern’s everywhere!

Holiday Festival of Lights

The James Island County Park will be lit up with over two million Christmas lights shining bright. There are also over 600 light displays. And once you reach the center, you might just get a glimpse of Santa who is making a list to check again twice before Christmas. The festival runs from November all the way until after the New Year.
